Ohio Excels says the budget’s emphasis on improved literacy outcomes is welcome news for parents, families, and employers throughout the state.


COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio Excels, a coalition of Ohio business leaders committed to improving education in the state, is voicing its strong support for Governor Mike DeWine’s biennial state budget proposal presented today for consideration by the Ohio General Assembly.


“The state budget’s emphasis on literacy, mental health and workforce development shows compassion, wisdom, and an understanding of what will accelerate Ohio’s economic momentum and help ensure people have the skills to fill our growing number of in-demand jobs,” she said. “We appreciate the work Governor DeWine and Lt. Gov. Husted have put into this budget proposal and look forward to working with the administration and the Ohio General Assembly to put the needs of students and families first.”


“State budgets are so much more than numbers; they reflect Ohioans’ values and our hopes for the future,” added Gray. “Governor DeWine’s biennial budget proposal shows his continued commitment to helping ensure a more prosperous future for all Ohioans, most especially our youngest, most vulnerable Ohioans.”


Also expressing support is Pat Tiberi, President & CEO of the Ohio Business Roundtable and Ohio Excels Board Chairman, “The proposed investments in early education, literacy, expanded school choice, mental health, need-based aid, and merit-based scholarships is welcome news for students, parents, families, and employers. These types of investments help ensure that our employers will be able to meet their workforce challenges and that our citizens thrive.”
